#1. MLK Celebration - March and Festival
Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday is commemorated in Austin each year with a community march downtown with some important stops along the way and which culiminates in an annual Cultural Festival. The march typically begins on the campus of the University of Texas with a brief ceremony and then proceeds to the State Capitol for another brief ceremony. Marchers then continue to the campus of nearby Huston-Tillotson University in East Austin. The Cultural Festival that follows celebrates Dr. King's legacy and Austin's rich cultural diversity.
#2. Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival
A 3-4 day festival, the annual Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival is where you want to be if you love tattoos, want to compare yours with others, or are looking to get a new tattoo from some of the best artists in the Austin area. With plenty of after parties each night, this has become a very cool and fun Austin tradition.
